O.K well im trying to get the map files from halo 2 on my computer. I have softmodded my xbox with the origional splintercell and have a crossover cable connection from my xbox to my pc. I have used unleashX as my dash each time cause of the many other options it supplies than evolutionX and i know more about unleashX than evoX from a crapload of research done before i even attempted to softmod cause i didnt want to screw my xbox up. I use flashFXP and followed many tutorials exactly to the . and each time i try to connect to ftp it says its connecting and then it says the connection timed out and tries to reconnect again in 120seconds. IT NEVER FREAKIN CONNECTS!!! I always end up uninstalling the softmod so i can get back on live and yes i know many people have ways of getting on live without uninstalling but it just doesnt work for me but i dont mind having to uninstall it. Someone please help me out with my ftp crap, i've been stuck with this problem for like a week now and i am tired of seeing "connection failed"!!! By the way this is one of the ftp tuts i followed. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/213943
    Thanks!

Okay.. first when you did the tutorial(s) did you remember to drag both of the files into action replay? (splintercell NTSC(US/canada) or PAL(i dont know) and the main installer). If you did not do that it will never work because you need the main installer to run the softmod installer deluxe 4.0 (or whatever version you used).

If you did all of that, that's great but did you remember to create a EEPROM backup in the installer? that is one of the most important parts of the install process!! Also you needed to create a MS backup if you wanted to for any reason uninstall the softmod.

Then if you did all of what i said and it still doesn't work then there must be a problem with either you cable or that you have the settings on your xbox still saved to DHCP. You need to have the ip settings to static (as far as i know).

*HINT* To find your xbox ip address go to settings on your modded dash then click internet or ip. Then scroll down and look for it.
For example: 192.169.0.1 is like what somthing you should see.

So, do all the stuff i told you, then PM or post a reply on the website to tell me what and how you did. I can see if i can help you in anyway possible.

    PEACE!!

I have done all the backups cause im definately not going to screw up my xbox. the IP is 192.168.0.2 and the softmod wouldn't even work if i didn't transfer the gamesave and the other file for splintercell and i have the IP set to static and a crossover cable. oh and im using unleashX. and i use NTSC and the softmod installer deluxe 4.0
it just says connection timed out. i dont know what the problem is.

Okay! I think i might know what extacly the problem is. When you go into FlashFXP, what do you use as your default password and user name. The defaults are set to both *no caps* the word xbox.

So when you go into FLASHFXP, type in your xbox's ip, then the user and password... then it might work. PM or replay back in this thread to tell me how all of that went!

    PEACE!!

LOL, yeah i've been doing the same connection, pc straight to xbox with crossover cable so im gonna try the wall to modem to router then to pc and xbox. I talked to one of my friends on live that used to mod and one that does mod and they both said that they used that same method and said that it worked every time. hopefully it does for me too! ;) here's the fourm, the pics at the bottom of the tut.http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/213943
