I'm trying to set up an FTP site, but nothing seems to be working. I'm on DSL, behind a Netgear MR814v2 router. I have ports 20,21, and 80 forwarded. I have Windows firewall turned off. I use PC-Cillin 2005 as a software firewall. I have all the ports open on there as well. Even if I turn off PC-Cillin completely, the FTP doesn't work. I'm using Cerberus FTP Server. I'm using the onboard NIC. Also, I can't even connect to my own computer. If I try to go to 127.0.0.1 it doesn't work no matter what I try, so I'm assuming the problem is not the router or the software firewall, but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? My computer is: Abit KV7 Mobo Athlon XP 3000+ 1Gig PC3200 DDR RAM GeForce FX5500 256Mb Windows XP Pro SP2
i had the same problem except i was using norton 2006 with a 4-port belkin router with win xp home. I had all my ports forwarded including FTP ports 21,20,and passive ports 50000-50049 on my router and norton. And still nothing. I was able to connect to my local ip 192.168.2.91. I dont think u can use the 127.0.0.1. Need to be LAN addy like 192.,68, and so on. I now have mine working great but ill give you a few things to try. Try forwarding your passive ports 50000-50049 Try Serv-u FTP server(its what i use and i love it.) Heres what i did first i uninstalled norton 2006 completly. still no luck, then i disabled my fire wall on my pc and my router. no luck there. So i replaced my router with a Netgear 5 port Ethernet Hub And Problem solved. I use serv u ftp server corprate edition The router i had was a belkin 4 port router E-mail me if u need a copy of serv u and ill send u my ftp addy good luck. let me know if i confused u any where sometimes i jumble my words.
