I just want to confirm that what I think is true.

    NDS Lite + G6 Lite + Passcard 3:
With these three items, all I would have to do is upload CLEAN NDS dumped roms into the flash card by using the G6 software, and it would be able to play the games with NO patching necessary?

I doubt it, where did you get this information from?

I've read product description on the G6 flash (should be equivelant to the G6 Lite I assume) and it says "NDS ROMs: Support “clean dump” data. Support “save data” backing up into GBA or DS card."

Here's a link to the product description of the G6 Flash:
    http://www.gameboy-advance.net/nintendo_ds/nds-g6flash.htm

I assume the G6 Lite should have the same exact functions since it's a newer version.

If that is not true... then I feel cheated by false advertisement.

I think that if you use clean dumps you have to use the save space of an original game to save to, which would mean if you then saved with the original game you lose your other save.

I will read up some more on it.

EDIT: lol, i see you've asked the same question on another forum :p

Haha, yea. Sorry for trashing up the net. But some forums are just dead. So far, the only answers I get is yours which is good.

This is what I researched for DAYSSSS.
But found out that G6 comes with a software with their product called "G6 U-disk manager". And from what I read is that you take your clean DS dumps, and when you use that manager to trasnfer the files to the flash cart, it patches before transfering to it.
But not sure if that's how it really works.

It's kind of frustrating how this scene is really sketchy with their product description.

OK, it seems that the G6 uses some special system that allows you to place clean dumps on the card and they will be able to save to the cart, i didn't realise it was possible as the games are hard coded to save to the DS port, hence the usual need of patching.

The GBA side of things seems to have a habit of corrupting the saves, NDS works fine however.

Best way to see how it works is to buy it, that way you can let everyone know how it works (like me, as i'm thinking of getting one for my black DS lite)

Mr Hanky, thanks for your responses. Your info help me some to understand. So basically, the big reasons for patching NDS roms is mainly for save outputs, and save characteristics?

So do you think what they say is true, that with those items I have, all I need is clean dumps, and it would work? Heh, I just want 2nd person thoughts to feel more confident, as I have placed orders for all the items, and didn't want to feel like a loss.

I should be getting my DS Lite in the mail tomorrow. But have to wait on the G6 Lite and Passcard 3 as it's on backorder until the 10th-20th (next week). I really hope it works as they described.

I found some info, and will go ahead and put it here just for references:
    http://www.tehskeen.com/modules.php?name=News&file=showarticle&threadid=769

Here is what it says just incase that link dies:
"Both the M3 and G6 Game Manager Software has been released which of course now supports Mario Kart among other things. Below is what is new (just replace the word G6 as M3 if you're using the M3 as both readme's are the same.)

There are 2 methods of writing games into G6 U-Disk:

Method 1. Copying game/software files from PC to G6 U-Disk directly. (Same method as same as using other U-Disk.)

    Method 2. Copying game/software files from PC to G6 U-Disk via G6 U-Disk Manager

Method1: Support writing all kinds of data into G6. Such as Homebrew games/program, Demo Games, Emulator game data, Music, Movies, MP3 files, Pictures, Text etc.

Method2: Mainly support writing games into G6. Such as Homebrew games/program, Demo Games, Emulator game data etc. In addition, it supports converting Clean Data¡ into Specific Data.

    Note:

Due to G6 U-Disk Manager V2.X have been changed the converting output format of Specific Data for improving the save compatibility for all NDS consoles (Support new NDS consoles boot up), please remind that the output files of converting by using G6 U-Disk Manager V2.X can only work fine with Console Loader version V1.34 or up. Besides, if users update the G6 with Console Loader version V1.34 or up, please make sure that the games stored in G6 were converted by using G6 U-Disk Manager version V2.0 or up otherwise the save function of these games may not work properly. If it is the old format, please re-write it by using G6 U-Disk Manager version V2.0 or up so that all Clean Data are converted by using G6 U-Disk Manager will continue to maintain storing game save data perfectly."

Well I guess it's not that bad to me.

I remember before carts got to this point, they required finding roms patched by GST, which seems to be a pain. One of the major reasons why I didn't get into this stuff because it seem like a hassle.

I realllly hope most games I have work with this G6 system. I will let you know whenever I get the stuff in.
