Hello to all the Game Cube Mod experts in here,

Well, I've been in this forum for awhile now and found out that I can do some after market modifications for my PS2 and Game Cube - Yes... I just did it for my PS2 last Friday and loving it, especially playing backed up games.

Now I'm ready to mod my "Game Cube" and was wondering if any of you experts in here can give me a good and reasonable mod for my GC. I've read almost all the newest threads in this forum by going back 10 pages and I've seen a lot of people talking about the Viper, and it seems like the most known for modification for Game Cube now. However, the Viper Mod Chip required the wires to be soldered and I fear that I may end up damaging my Game Cube. With that being said, I don't want to take the risk. In addition, I've heard that there is a new "solderless mod chip" for the Game Cube just came out, which means no need to solder. Can anyone confirm that this is true? If so, then I'm more than likely to get this "no solder mod", but I need to know where to get it. Money is "not" an issue for me, so "please" can someone link a site that will direct me to it? Finally, my question is what program or software you experts in here used to back up your Game Cube games? I've heard that the latest upgraded version from Nero Ultra can do the task right? Please just give me an idea or tools on how I need to back up my GC games so I can play them properly that's all. Any contribute or help is "GREATLY" appreciated. Again, thanks for your help.

yes there is a solderless chip out for the gamecube no i can't give out any info reason it is still in the beta testing stage and should be realeased in about another 2 to 3 weeks

if you want to mod your gamecube you can just purchase a mod chip but remember that the viper gc is still experiencing problems running most titles do to drive read problems and several games not responding

    Ola,

am using the Cube modded with Viper GC, has got some wires to solder, but worth it. Am using Cobra 1.1 BIOS, plays all backups/imports, direct boot. Best addon for the Cube. Go for the ViperGC.

im looking into modding my cube to, but i would recommend doing what im doing. just waiting untill they really get the viper GCN almost perfected (almost is) or wait for a new VGC model to come out (im waiting for) hopefully it will have more onboard memory for more plugins and abilities and maybe even less wires to solder :)

You can do a softmod, using GCOS(or efal07) named program to play backups from DVD:s.
    You need
    -GC Broadband adapter
    -Phantasy Star Online game
    -Action Replay(optional)
    -Nintendo memory card
    -Computer
    and rest is here:
http://forums.maxconsole.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=75 (somewhere there is instructions how to set up)

Or just ask someone else to solder Viper to your GC...

Thanks a lot, your help is greatly appreciated. I've heard of them before by reading that very first and long "GC" thread on the top. However, I was wondering if you or any experts in here can give me the right tools to back up a GC games, i.e. what "software/program" do I need, in order for me to back up my GC games properly? Do I "must" have 1) Broadband adapter 2) Phantasy Star Online, in order for me back up any of my GC games??? Can't it (GC games) be back up the way or something similar to PS2 back up procedures? Can Nero and Decrypter back up GC games by a chance? I'm so sorry for asking so much, but it's obvious that I'm pretty new to this GC backing up stuff, so please bear with me alright.

As for the Viper, I'm not quite sure if I wanted to do that at this moment. I think I'll wait a bit for the new "solderless GC mod" to come out and will probably go with it. Like I said; money is not an issue when it comes to modifications for me, but seriously I would hate to ruin my GC console system if somebody end up soldered it wrong.

To backup games, you only need:
    -broadband adapter
    -phantasy star online
    -crossover cable
    -ethernet card
    -memory card

You can't backup GC games by reading them with computer's DVD drive.
