Honestly most game sites that review games are full of crap nowadays or have been bribed by the gaming companies, case and point gta4. The best way to find out if a game is good or not is to rent it, because even if someone likes it doesn't necessary mean that you will.
All sites suck as they are all biased. I watch reviews on the run or judgment day in the states. It's a show out of Vancouver BC and the host is Victor Lucas and from time to time he has on guest reviewers to fill in for Tommy Tallarico as he is on tour with Video Games Live. Jeff Keighly has been on the show of and on. I like the show because IT NOT XPLAY!!. Just straight to the point reviews. I believe G4 in the states shows judgment day. As far as a site that I can whole heartedly recommend is http://www.escapistmagazine.com/ where you can fine Zero punctuation. So far watching Zero Punctuation he has liked 2 games. No More Heroes and Psychonauts. I find his reviews and pretty bang on and if you don't agree with his reviews you'll find the way he goes about it is pretty damn funny.
www.ign.com isn't too bad, dont ever take a reviewer's word for it though, rent the game and check it out for yourself.
Do your own research like a) watching gameplay to see if it is something you agree will entertain you b) watch HD gameplay from a place like http://www.gamersyde.com/ as Gametrailers has been PROVEN to be biased against the PS3 c) post about the specific game in forums like here at aD! Just make your question clear and weed out the fanboys for/against d) ask some of your friends for their views but still keep an open mind as some may not like the kind of games you do so you might get a skewed answer e) Rent or borrow the game if possible and if available a place like Movie Gallery (like Blockbuster) or Play N Trade (like Gamestop) will let you play/try out a game to see if you may like it Those should be a very good start to help you out. Good Luck!
