i just downloaded midnight club 3 with bittorrent and burned it. the game will start and the menus work until i actually get to the point where i go to race. when i go to career mode and try to start off by buying a car, it takes me to a loading screen and then freezes. if i try to do a single race, it takes me to a different loading screen but still freezes instead of going on to the race. since the game is downloaded i figured this meant that there were corrupted files, but since nothing really works im not sure. would clearing the caches help? ne ideas, help please! ive tried burning several times and the dvd-r's i am using work with my xbox, this is the first game that hasnt worked.
I had a similar problem with NFSU2 with my PS2. I tried with Sony media and it didn't work, then tried with Samsung's and TY's and they worked on both. It might be a media problem. Is DUB a dual-layer game?
No, DUB isnt dual layer. I've used this media before with several games and never had any problems.. im using HP dvd-rs and sony dvd-rws, tried the game on both, had the same problem. I have tried it on a second xbox too, with the same results.
That eliminates the chances of faulty torrent. That was the same problem with my PS2. Metal Gear Solid 3 works fine on Sony media but NFSU2 doesn't. You might need to patch the game, look here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/153895
Also, I've informed the mods and they should move it to the Xbox discussiong forums. Please don't double-post your problem there.
I used craxtion and it said the files were previously patched. I kind of thought they would be since I downloaded the game. So, what do I try next?
I'm sorry but I don't know much about the xbox, I'll try to get more people to this thread. Seems like the mods are busy.
Maybe it is a dual-layer. If it is what do I have to do differently? I'm using Nero and my dvd burner is dual-layer. Things I have read suggest that all of the newer xbox games are dual-layer, but I havent seen anything that says for sure that it is. Even if it is, would that make it run and then lock up at the loading screen?
If it's dual-layer then there could be a flaw in the torrent since you have to remove all the unneeded stuff.
Could be a media problem too. HP media is not recommended as they buy a lot of media from cmc mag which is the lowest form of media made. Here's some codes. HP DVD+R 2.4x (CMC MAG.R01) HP DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01) HP DVD+R 4x (MCC.....002) HP DVD+R 8x (CMC MAG.E01) Run your HP's through dvd identifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ and give us the manufacturer and ID. Fixed the problem. The program I was using to open the downloaded rar file was screwing it up. Game is working fine now!
