I dont know anything about newsgroups. I dont know where to find a server, if you need to find a server, and if you have to join a group. I just started looking into this today and am very confused. If anyone knows anything about how to join newsgroups, I would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I got the basics of working the program NewsLeecher, I just need to know how to find servers that have stuff like gamecube stuff etc..

I never bothered with NewsGroups and just stuck with torrent trackers for releases. Just get a good BitTorrent client such as BitComet, BitLord, or Azureus and you should be set. Be sure to set up port forwarding if you're connected through a router or your download speeds will be pathetic.

Heh.. Yes, I know all about torrents, in fact I have been using them for quiet some time. Problem is, with most gamecube games, theres no seeders left or very little, or they leave in the middle.. Know of any good torrent sites for gamecube?

alt.binaries.cd.image.gamecube is the gamecube group, where you can discuss whatever you want, or download as well, as long as it pertains to the gamecube.

You access your ISP's newsgroup server and update their newsgroup list. Be aware that posts only last 2-3 days. If you want posts that go back farther, newshosting.com is a pay server (15 a month for unlimited downloads) which has 4 weeks retention.

ISP news servers usually dont get all the "pieces" to make up an ISO, although some people get lucky :)

oops..forgot to mention, you get your ISP's news server address usually by your ISP's tech support page (unless you cough up the 10-15 bucks a month for a premium server, in which case your server addy will be different)
