    hi guys

i'm sorry for being a noob in terms of connecting local area networks

i'm trying to make a backup of my own game.

    my ip is set 192.168.1.100
    mask: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.1

i activate the connection, and then it says "active" but i got to internet explorer to type "http://192.168.1.32/DVD" and it says "working offline" and asks me if i want to connect to the internet.

i have a qoob pro and i'm trying this with the gamecube on the qoob boot menu.

i've also tried with gcom, but the result is the same.

i'm using a crossover cable by the way

i'm almost sure i don't have to connect to the internet right? it's nothing to do with internet, right?

please answer me about this, i've googled and googled and couldn't find anything. thanks in advance

Ok tworok I have ur answer and it is very simple. First of all you do not need to be online at all and second of all you should be typing 192.168.1.1/backupiso into internet explorer after you have inserted your original game to copy and pressed a on your controller then click enter on your keyboard and the next thing you know you will be saving a backup iso to whatever folder you want to put it in. I answered your question because I have spent the last week trying to figure this out for myself and it is pure hell getting an answer from anyone, I just do not understand why people are not willing to give out knowledge that they have. All they want to tell you is read this and read that when all they have to do is say try this or try that. Well good luck tworok and enjoy. If you have anymore questions just pm me. I can save my backup iso's now to but it is telling me that it will take 20 + hours to save backup and I am trying to find out how to resolve this issue. If you read anything about this please pm me and let me know. Don

Sorry tworok I gave you the wrong address. The address you needed is 192.168.1.32/backupiso and away you go backing up your iso's. Sorry about that typo with the other address but this should have you up and running in no time.

    hi don

at this moment i've already solve my problem, and i've ripped all my original games into my pc.

the problem was internet explorer, i've even tried the trick you recommended to me, but it didn't work, all IE wanted was to go online...

then i read GCOM's txt file and saw that they recommended a program called wget, which is a very easy to use command line prompt program.

by the way, when i was searching for help on another forum, i came across to your calling of help too, and then after i solved my issue i replied to you there the same thing i'm replying here.

with this program i get an iso from gamecube in 12 minutes, my local area network is 100mbps, yours is probably only detecting 10mbps.

i would re-install the local area network from scratch and start from there, to see if your PC detects a 100mbps network and not just 10mbps

when i power on my gamecube, my pc detects 10mbps, but when i load GCOM it changes to 100mbps, doesn't this happen to you too?

    cheers

Hey there tworok its nice to get answsers from people with a little knowledge isnt it. I am using gcos 1.5 and when I fire up the game cube it comes up with 100 mbps and after I click on gcos 1.5 it drops down to 10 mbps and stays there even after I go to internet explorer. So maybe I do need this program called weget. Can you send it to me or where can I download it at. You said when you download it at. You said when you load gcom. Is that the program weget or are they 2 different programs? Help me out here bro, please. Don

wget is the program you use on the pc and gcom is the one you have to load on the gamecube.

so pretty much is wget instead of internet explorer and gcom instead of gcos

to find wget just google it, you'll find it easily

gcom you can get it from the modthatcube site, if you don't know the url, just google it and it will come up too

my msn is two-rok@oninet.pt if you need anything

Your alright tworok, I certainly appreciate all the info you have given me. I couple of interesting things I will share with you since you have been so kind. I will email them to you personally since you have also given me your email address. Oh yeah how do you install gcom on your gamecube? I downloaded one time and put it on a dvd and there where no files that I could open with the gamecube. Thanks again dude and I will be in touch with you shortly via email. Don
