gamecube versions?

i got my cube and ive got enough money for a qoob pro chip, but ive heard somewhere that only certain versions of gamecubes can play backups
if this is true how do i see which version mine is and which ones work?

it doesnt matter what verison of game cube that will play back ups

 

yeah, the qoob and viper gc work on all version gamecubes.
