Games read as dvds even with a brand new dvd drive

Just as the title says. Suddenly some of my games started reading as dvds, then every game read as a dvd. I replaced the drive and still same problem. What am i overlooking? Anyone else had this same problem?

 

Did you replace the key with the original?

 

I dont think so, what do you mean by key?

 

You'll need to extract an original bin file of your firmware from the original drive. Each motherboard is tied the it's DVD with a DVD key and you can't just swap drives without that key. It's not like the original Xbox where you can simply swap drives. You need to get the from in original firmware and inject it into the firmware of the new drive.

 

Oh man, I had no clue. Is there any way to bypass that. Like swap the circuit boards on the drives?

 

If both are Samsung drives then you can swap the boards in the drives. For Hitachis you can do that too, but they have to be the same firmware model.
