Ok, I started this thread in the hope that we can stop all the "XXXX is to large to burn" threads. When you backup one of your games and you suddenly realise that it is too big to put on a single layer disc head over to http://www.balugabutt.com/xoops/modules/wfsection
Even with some games that aren't on the site yet, just use some common sense. If you don't speak japanese, and there are japanese audio/video files in there....it might be safe to delete those. Best thing is to do the simple deletions and burn to an RW that your box will play....trial and error is sometimes the only way to go. And yeah, that site is the standard for game deletions in this area.
or just install a 300GB HDD and never worry about if it will fit on a disc or not. Keep a back up of the ISO on your PC, and put a copy on the Xbox HDD and your set.
I could easily fill a 300gb hd. & like I said, this thread is to try and stop all the "XXXX is to big to fit on a disc" threads.
No offense Bubba, but that would require people to actually search for their own answers, and read something. Not gonna happen. I can't tell you how many useful posts i have seen and started to try to save myself from answering repetetive questions. Do you know how many actually worked? none. People are just too lazy I don't knock your intentions which are very good. I wish it were that easy. But they won't even read the stickies at the top. And unless someone keeps bumping this every day then it will just fall back page after page until it is gone.
I know, I know. People are stupid and don't bother reading...or searching. But hey, it was worth a try
^that was me^ Damn I hate it when the Mrs logs in using her username and doesn't log out or bother to tell me that she has been on here. Grrrr.
hahahahahahaa, yeah i can see the similarity in the sig, well i will try to post a little somthing when i can to keep pushing this to the top.
even balugabutt won't be 0second current on the game deletions....and seeing as it takes in some of their 'guides' from out sources, this would mean that some of them were made/figured out by the same people that are asking these 'annoying' questions. If you don't want to rely on the guides,or any other people...I suggest just sitting down and looking that the files and how they are arranged. After awhile it makes sense on what you can delete and what must stay. like the old saying; [bold]give a man fire and he's warm for a day....light the man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.[/bold] ...or something like that.
hahahaha. I like that. it sure beats the hell out of the "Teach a man to fish" line. Balugabutt.com is good but it is kinda irratating that they still haven't said what I can delete from the warriors to make it fit a single layer disk. & the file structure is kinda weird on it. no language packs that I can see to delete
yes, i think the teach me to fish one is what i remember too Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime
im trying to back up matrix : path of neo but its like 5 gig and i dont have a dual layer burner. i went to the link but its not on it and i cant tell what files can be deleted as i dont understand what each file does help would be much appreciated, andy
could you list the folder layout maybe...I don't have the game and I can't find a listing yet. If you let me know what files are in there,I might be able to give you an idea on what to delete.
the major folders(size wise) are: levels-2.21 gig( guessing i need all of them) movies-840 mb ( id lik to keep movies if i could) sound-2.14gig ...must i delete movies? thanks for the help, andy
in the movies folder are there any files that are named similar? Or are there seperate folders like for different lanuages or regions. (eg..If you don't speak french, delete french videos) Sometimes they put videos for both PAL and NTSC...which would mean that you coulddelete one set of videos saving room. Also like in the game The Warriors they can put both 4:3 video as well as widescreen videos...which can take up alot of room. In the sound folder are there seperate languages? If so delete the ones you don't need. Once I get the game and check it out,I'll have more for ya. I might rent it tomorrow and take a look.
ok. I was going to list the files that I kept on the disc, But.......then I remembered that there are a couple of thousand files :Þ Anyhow, just delete the movies that aren't in whatever language you want and the movies marked as extra.
i think i deleted the right sounds. ill burn it and try it iout and let u know... i was unsure though of which movie files are in other languages ( not english) how do u tell? amdy
alot of times they will have a clue in the title eg. song1_eg.ogg <---english song1_fr.ogg <---french song1_sp.ogg <---spanish Kind of like that. There are some exampls of audio tracks actually telling you what they are in full...but usually they have abreviations.
