I have just bought the nuvi 200 today and the guy in Half***ds told me that if you knew where to look you didn't have to subscribe to the safety camera alert after the 30 trial was over. He could not tell me the website as he would get into trouble (good job i wasn't an official or he would have been in bother). Does anyone know where i can find this information for free i travel from North East England to Scotland regular and anyone who knows the A1 knows how bad it is for accidents. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
He meant google... I can't go any closer either because it is avoiding paying for a paid service http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=safety+camera+alerts&btnG=Google+Search&meta= Does your nuvi give you any trouble with charging from a charger rather than a pc-usb connector? Ours insists there is a pc connection and will not start when externally powered.. ps.. a motorola v3 charger is a suitable replacement if you happen to lose the one that comes with it... but ours gives us problems unless we have it trying to boot and connect the external power when it is starting.
Interesting. i have the Nuvi 610T (fantastic device) and bought it late last year (specifically because it has permanently free TMC traffic info plus acts as a great handsfree kit/bluetoothed to mobile phone). Anyways, mine too was supposed to only have the 30day trial for camera alerts; however mine hasn't issued any moans onscreen about the trial running out. It still works for any cameras i go thru (lots) and suspect the only problem is that it just can't detect new cameras put up after the 30 days trial. Which suits me as i can't afford any points on my licence hence why i haven't been slapped with any points for about 10years now. It's nice to know there's a camera ahead however can hardly afford the fuel never mind any points/tickets
I have not actually been far enough yet to use the car charger but have used it going locally. We were advised to charge it using a digital camera USB charger rather than buy a new lead. I noticed something that is not on this but on my sister in laws 'cheap' version it doesnt seem to have a battery indicator. And what the heck is the camera for in the top right corner corner when you enable something in the set up menu?? Any further info in the Garmin that i receive i will post here.
