Hi, I have a mx7118 gateway laptop and was trying to system restore it, I lost the cd's so I found out there is another way you can restore it without using the cd's, you restart the laptop and press F11, so I did that, the only problem is, when you open this, it's suppose to say, chose one of the 3 ways to restore your pc such as cd's, a harddrive partion, and ext.........on my laptop it automatically goes to cd's by it self and then the laptop ask me for the cd's witch I don't have, I went to the tech help and they told me to go to windows system restore and restore it back to a date, they have no idea what there talking about, if you have any idea whats wrong or how I can fix it ,please tell me, thanks.
if you can go into your laptop using safemode then you can using Windows System restore to restore to a earlier date.
