I have a Gateway MX7340 standard (no special order). When it boots, the backlight is on high but no video. I connected it to an external LCD and a CRT and they both worked perfectly. I have read that this may be a simple loose connection. I unscrewed absolutely every screw. I removed the two plates, RAM module, CD/DVD Burner Drive, and the HDD. When I try to separate the top plate from the base, however, it is stuck near the space button on the keyboard. I looked everywhere and I cannot even find disassembling instructions on the net. As this laptop is out of warranty and I have the knowledge to fix it, but am fearful of breaking or snapping off a piece that connects the two plates. Anyone know of how to properly disassemble an MX7340 so I may disconnect and reconnect the video cable on the motherboard?
