What a laptop...but it's running Vista 64 bit. Never having webcam or other exciting new stuff like a dual processor cpu, I'm excited. But will I be able to find the drivers for the webcam? I am familiar with 8.10 on older, 32 bit machines. Can I install 32 bit Ubuntu or am I restricted to the 64 bit distro? Any advice? Thanks
There is only one way absolutely to find out, get a live CD and try it for yourself... Webcam is probably fine, almost everything I've seen the past couple of years is picked up by the uvc driver, which is built in to the kernel now. 32 bit is fine, unless you have more than 4gb of ram, 64 bit can also cause headaches thanks to proprietary software vendors but can be worked through.
