    Hi there,
My lad plays pokemon emerald. Three times now it has corrupted
when almost complete. Does anyone know the best way to just back up
files to pc. I have searched and found flash cards etc but this is
a bit over the top. I just want to be able to back up the saves and
re install if it corrupts. Thanks, Phil

Is this a rom? or a real game? If it's a rom, it will always corrupt when you do a certain part in the game and it needs to be patched.

If it is a real game, I do not know why it keeps corrupting. But a good way to backup the save is using an Action Replay device.

The Action Replay devices use to cause an error when restoring the save, which meant the game would say te save is corrupted, but it would work anyway. I do not know if the newer versions have fixed this.

Thanks for the reply, this is a proper game but it just seems to corrupt
after a few weeks, always when nearly complete. My son was in tears earlier....
    Thanks for any ideas

hm.. best way to test out to see if its the cartridge itself is to buy the Action Replay like mr_hanky stated and back up the save. I know the newer Action Replays do NOT have a problem with corrupting 99% of saves - I own one :). Then, pick up another copy of the game and restore that save on to it -- it should work well. If it doesn't.. then I think that game is probably part of a defective batch

    Hi,
So can an action replay back up a saved game and the reload it
on to a gba if the save is corrupted? If it can then that is just what i need!!
    Thanks

well its not really a matter of no more ebay games.. you can buy games off ebay but you just have to be careful. if the person uses a stock photo and says that they will send you the box but it will be flat.. thats a big red flag to think its a fake. i would say as long as they have a nice, clear photo of the game itself and everything it comes with, you should be OK. Also, check the feedback. Make sure no one left a comment like "Great game.. but I can't save" or any other flaws like that on games. Another red flag there :)
