The only thing I seen on the new modchip GCLoader is it will supply something different than the other mods that are currently out.I am not sure what they are going to make that is different for it,but that is the only news I have heard from it so far.It has direct boot features and all the other features the other mods have, but they are probably going to keep it secret until it is released I am thinking.

If HDD support came out for GC I would definately get it.A harddrive could store the GC games easily with the sizes not to mention roms for N64 an so forth. It will be awhile before that ever comes out or if it ever does like you said Quezacotl.

if a hardrive was available, this would open up maultiple opertunities from programmers. do you know what this could mean?

but would it be possible to load windows then, or is the gamecube lacking hardware? like the oldest version and simplest.

Well if a harddrive ever comes available then I don't see why not.It sounds like it is better for development though to be honest. It will give them more space and more possibilites like boki2002,and Quezacotl are talking about. If it ever comes out it will be a big improvement to the scene though any way you look at it.I did notice they where using USB ports, are they messing with external harddrives and if so is it possible for parrallel connection.Just a couple questions I was asking myself earlier.

That USB-port on HDD-interface is somekind of developing that thing only, it will not be in when HDD-interface goes public.

    And:
First would be needed Windows source(that is closed), then modify it so much that it would work properly on GC. And it would be illegal, because Windows is registered trademark. And what would be use of Windows on GC? GC has ram only 24MB, so then would have to modify all programs and games too to use 24MB, and it would take time.
But Linux is open-source, so free. And it takes less time and is easyer to make a Linux to GC.
