Tomorrow, I'll be getting a modchip for my gamecube, however someone said to me that if the lens of the gamecube are too used and old, some games might not run in my gamecube (which really sucks). My gamecube is 3 years old btw. I wanna know if what I got told is true, false, most likely or not likely to happen. I really need an answer for this before tomorrow, I don't wanna waste money because I'm not too 'wealthy' Any help, comments, suggestions are really appreciated. Thanks

Yes, your gamecube might need a lens adjustment (A.K.A. POT Adjustment). However, this is easily done w/ an ohmeter if you are opening up your gamecube to install the modchip. If your get it installed or are buying a pre-modded system professionally, they will usually adjust this for you.

I'm putting it tomorrow, I dont even know what kind of modchip it is I'll just pay, it's about 75$. but let's say the modchip doesnt read some games after beeing installed what do I do? oh and I have a somehow damaged original game which I can still play but I gotta reset the gc a couple of times, does that forces or damages the lens?

First of all let me say that 75$ is quite expensive for a modchip especially if you don't know what kind it is. Anyways, if you install the modchip but some of your backup games don't work, refer to this page:

    http://modthatcube.pxn-os.org/content/dre.htm

and that will outline in detail what the problems may be.

Also, the resetting you had to do should not affect whether or not you need a POT adjustment. If you do need to adjust it, it's not because of ur somehow damaged original game.

I'm not installing the modchip so I think 75$ is a decent price besides I'm from south america and all imported stuff is expensive, an original game here is worth like 80$!! anyways thanks for your help I hope my modchip works tomorrow :D
