I have an older (2 1/2 years old) computer that is running like crap. It is extremely slow no matter what. I have deleted almost everything off of it except the programs it came with and have defragged and done a disk cleanup. None of my antivirus software (Norton, Ad-aware, Spybot) is finding anything either. Short of erasing the whole hard drive and starting over, what can I do? I think I have some kind of virus or tracking software because this happened fairly suddenly. Thanks in advance for any help!

try some other programs norton isnt very good
start with "Highjack This" run it
    "CCleaner" is good too
download the free trial of "Spy Sweeper" run it
and try dumping norton and using a better virse scan
i use Trend Mirco PC-cillin, you can do a free scan at there website
and the free AVG virse scan is really better than norton that you pay for so try all theses and let us know if it helps

Free anti-virus software from: AntiVir XP

    http://free-av.com

You might have some obsolete/invalid registry entries (which could resulted from uninstallation of software/improper uninstallation, etc.). Try this free, effective regisry cleaner: RegSeeker

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegSeeker_d2579.html

Note: I suggest you keep a back-up of the registry entries that you remove in case if your comp has some "issues."
