Hi Just reading the other post and I was hoping you might be able to help.I've been reading alot of the information available here but still have not been able to upload the firmware required to ensure automatic updates I have a genuine SV box I have downloaded the GTRom Loader V400 I have down loaded the bin file STARVIEW_H20070607_400eE_api.bin I purchased a USB serial converter to go with the RS232 cable I purchsed. I started the download with SV box on standby Using the GTRom loader only port that attempts to download is port 4 it tries for a couple of seconds but then I get an error message flash update fail. I've tired all other ports. I've been trying to update this for 2 months now !! just about to give up. I'm not a techie but hope I can follow most instructions. Think i've done whats been recommended so far. Can you assist please ?
You need a NULL MODEM CABLE because the RS232 cable will NOT work http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=97740&doy=3m7
ty for reponse apolgies I was calling the cable the wrong name but the cable is the same as the one in the link you sent me Can you still help?
They both look EXACTLY the same , its the wiring in the inside that matters , the NULL MODEM CABLE has crossover config wiring which is needed to update the firmware Are you trying this from a laptop or PC? The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your map software to recognize. You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data. To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected If you need drivers go here http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm
Hi There, Thank you I followed your advice bought the correct cable and download seemed to work fine after two failed attemps. The information under the system information on menu screen has chagned to the bin file I uploaded with. A few questions if I may, once down load was complete I just clicked ok, disconnected box from PC and plugged box back into the TV. I had to do nothing else. The channels were all there with sound etc. It's just I was reading some of the info and posts and it metioned doing an auto scan and using a code 2004 to complete the update. Is this the case in all cases? the fact I didn't have to do it, does that mean my update was a sucessful upload ? and finally I was wondering if there is a way I can be sure I've updated correctly and if the codes do change again should my box just be ok from here on in. Thanks for your time and advice in advance. Ash
2 things to check go to system info ok if ur update was good ur vers will have changed, next to check autoroll, menu 1570 set default key then exit when ur box updates keys ur picture will come back on
Hi Thanks for the swift reponse I guess I didn't have too wait long to find out if the auto roll worked . The codes changed today and my auto roll didn't work. At first it seemed the key codes changed and matched close to what the new key codes where but the screen just showed data updating. I found the keys and manually input them and I have the starview back but as far as the auto roll it failed. I have checked again and the version on my system info definately changed and now reads API Ver 4.00e_E Boot Ver 7 7/june 2007 One more question if I may and again apolgies for asking so many but I went to menu 1570 set default key and pressed ok on it ? it just said wait saving info and that was it? it that all I was supposed to do ? I guess I'll find out soon if it's worked. Thanks Ash
you should be using this file now m8 CryptStar-v1.4-core400.bin link below for the file http://www.speedyshare.com/762945660.html
Hello Down and uploaded the file as suggest. upload was completed ok. set the default key only question I have is under the system information the file name change has not changed like before it still reads API ver: 4.00e-E is that ok ? Will I have to wait for a change in keys to find out if it's been a success. Thanks again
Hi Again, Before I throw the starview out the window can you just advise on the new firmware. Since I did the upload of the Cryptstar v1 as suggested i'm only getting some of the stations. i did the factory reset, did a manual and automatic scan, did two uploads downloading file each time. Should I just give up and forget about auto roll ? very grateful but discouraged aSH
