OK, So I bought a Laptop from HP and it wasn't working really well, and I had the accidental warranty from circuit city, and I drowned it in the bathtub so I could get another. They sent me one and it came with a 90 day HP warranty. I had to call them up for something, I can't remember, and my warranty expired 10th of September... I booted up my computer into windows (I dual boot windows and ubuntu) and it came up with a rather friendly message. It said that my windows version was not genuine and I had to buy another code... How do I go about fixing this, since my warranty from HP ran out and they can't help me? I would stick to ubuntu but this year in school I need to make movie presentations on DVDs and turn them in for my internal assessment (International Baccalaureate Program). If you know a program for editing movies on ubuntu (and pulling them off the camcorder) that would be great, thanks.
wheres your xp serial number?find it and call microsoft support.they will be able to sort it out for you.
They told me to call my computer manufacturer and then HP told me they can't help me because my warranty ran out.
From a teacher, here is a free IB lesson: don't screw with warranties and drown your own computer . . . moron.
It barley worked... I had to... Oh and I know what I'm going to do now. It's not the BEST thing to do, but it will work. And it is not stealing ANYTHING off the internet. I don't pirate.
They want me to pay them like $100 an hour just to look at it, and then they'll charge me for the disc. Unless they're required to?
