I got a laptop from my overseas and it has a bad version of windows and it wants me to run a program to get geniun windows product...What happens ifi do this? It had windows 98 on it before and i want to be able to get all the updates..Oh and i keep losing memory..i cleared of 312 off c drive and 2 weeks pass and now i only have 8 megs left. I have spyware Avira virus but cant figure it out.
could u make u r question more clear please. As i read this u have a laptop with windows xp and u installed it as a copy and u need to activate it, is that what u r saying. If it is then i can help u
It just wants to check whether U have a GENUINE WINDOWS product installed or a pirated version before permitting U to download any Microsoft products (like Internet Explorer 7, or Windows Media Player 11 etc)and UPDATES other than AUTOMATIC UPDATES. There is nothing wrong in carrying out the check. At least U will come to know whether your product is genuine or not. If it is genuine, then you will be able to download all products & updates but if NOT, then U will not be able to download any of microsoft's products & updates other than the one's they permit.
