Ok, I just got my new 80g Maxtor HD. I set it to cable select and installed. Booted with Slayers Auto Installer in Disk Tray. I used my Slayers with original Hard drive so It should have work. I boot XBOX and then goes to green X but I get no Xecuter2 logo. After few seconds, The screen gives error 16 ( only half of screen shows diagonally ). Can anyone help me? Is it possible to plug new HD in PC and partition using Partition Magic. I have all original files saved. Could it be that my chip is loose because the X2 logo doesnt come up? Please help. Anybody.
For some reason I think it has to do with my DVD-Rom Drive not reading correctly. I took off DO wire and got red flash blinking "maintanence" message. I resoldered it and got back the usual error 16 or 7, so im guessing mod chip is working properly and that it has something to do with the DVD-Rom b/c it should be able to boot to EVOx without anything on the harddrive right?
put back the original hardrive and set current time and date then replace the original hardrive with ur 80 gig... redo slayer and it should works. let me know_X_X_X_X_X_[small]dolemite12dc[/small]
Try burning SLayers to another Brand of disc. Error 16 is a dashboard error. May have been a bad install and missed some files that were needed. RustyDog
I'm unable to even access the original hard drive to change the time. The thing is, my original hard drive isnt booting with Slayers or EVOX either(DVD-R). I know the Slayers Disk and EVOX disks are good because I used them for a good two weeks before my problem. This is what I did before my problem occured: I transferred a few movies over to my hard drive then tried to create a games folder in the F partition using FlashFXP ( I did this twice because i could not see the folder that I had just created through FlashFXP). That's when my XBOX just stopped booting to the dashboard. I tried swapping out DVD Drives, Hard Drives and still got nothing. I have no clue of what to do. When I swapped out hard drives I got the error 16, saying that the hard drive was missing the dashoard files necessary to boot. Obviously, my DVD Drive is being bypassed every time I boot. Don't know what to do.
I forgot to mention, is the Partition Magic Thing possible?( hooking up hard drive to my PC and formatting it manually into 6 partitions)I have all the backup files necessary.Has anyone tried this?
I almost positive you can't format the harddrive in your PC. I missed the part about the Xecuter logo not coming up. Check to make sure your chip is still aligned if it's a pogo pin chip. You might also want to try and reflash the chip with the EvoxM7 bios if you have the external programmer. Some X2 bios files completely skip the DVD drive at start up. RustyDog
