i have avi and mpeg1 formats on my hard drive and i cant figure how to put them into the timeline so i can encode them... it seems to only want to import .stu formats. it doesnt recognize other formats. i can get my avi and mpeg's into edit by clicking on the folder icon but then i have to drag each frame into the time line, is there a better and faster way to get my avi and mpeg;s into studio 8
You can move all of the frames onto the timeline by clicking on 1 of them then selecting EDIT > SELECT ALL at the top. All of the frames will then be highlighted, then simply drag any one of them onto the timeline and all of them will go there in order.
I you are just encodeing the files then DONT USE STUDIO 8 ,Studio 8 Mpeg encoder is total Crap, You should use a Real Encoder not Studio 8....
Gee, what's wrong with Studio 8's MPEG encoder? After comparing it with those in several other apps (Nero, Ulead DVD Movie Factory, TMPGEnc, Sonic, Cyberlink, etc.) I thought Pinnacle's was the closest to TMPGEnc (at least on a computer monitor).
Well Considering all of the apps you compared it to All aren"t very good either accept Maybe Tmpgenc...There are In my opinion Only 4 Good Quality encoders out there and I try every one that comes on the Market...Tmpgenc is one of the Good Ones accept that it can be a Bit Buggy at times and is a Little Slow, It"s Mpeg1 encodeing is better than it"s Mpeg2 encodeing in my Opinion..Another Good encoder is "MainConcept Encoder 1.4" it is 3 times as fast as Tmpgenc and Produces Compareable quality results but doesn"t have the features of Tmpgenc..Another Very good one is "Canopus Procoder" which does many different Compression methods Includeing mpeg1/2 and it is extremely High Quality and on it highest Quality settings it is Probably the Best Mpeg encoder on the Market but useing those settings takes forever to encode, and one of it"s best features is that it is one of the only encoders that does Proper good Quality NTSC/Pal Conversions...And the Last Really good encoder which is My Favorite is "CinemaCraft Encoder SP 2.67", It has No special Features(Accept 9 Pass encodeing) and it has absolutely no Filters, But in Conjuction with a Frameserver like AVISynth it can do anything any other encoder can do and more and at 2-3 times the speed of any other encoder, It"s Mpeg1 encodeing is not very good But it"s Mpeg2 encodeing is virtually unmatched...I haven"t Found Many encoders that Come with DVD authoring Programs or with Video editors that were any good, The one in Vegas Video 4 is Failrly good and so is the One in Premier Pro but other than that I haven"t seen many good Quality mpeg encoders intergrated into Video editing or DVD authoring Programs...Cheers
now that the best encoder is canopus. what is the best authorizing program out there with all the bells and whistles?
I suppose one of the highest end DVD authoring Programs is "Sonic Scenerest 2.7" which is what they use to author Retail DVD"s, It can even add copy protection to your DVD but it is extremely hard to figure out and extremely expensive at about $15,000-$45,000 for the Retail version, I prefer something like "Sonic DVD Producer 3.51" it is easier to use and has Profecinal features Like Subtitle Support and support for up to 6 Audio/Language Tracks and Dolby 5.1 and sterio Encodeing,This Program Run"s about $4500 but it comes with some high end Hardware...Another one that has Lots of features But is Very Difficult to Figure out is the new "Adobe Encore DVD 1.0" it supports Multiple audio tracks and subtitles but I found the Interface very Cluttered and very hard to figure out..There are Of cource many other DVD authoring Programs that are easier to use and Cheaper and will produce very good Quality DVD"s but they don"t have the Profecinal Features that the others do But those are Features you would Probably never really use unless you really did have to add subtitles or needed more than One audio/Language Track which are features most poeple wouldn"t need...Out of the Ones I mentioned Sonic DVD producer seems to be the Most User Friendly and easiest to use and is One that I use Most often becides DVD-Lab which I use for doing basic DVD"S....Cheers
