Ok I'm in the market for a new motherboard/CPU for my Ancient PC and I'm having a seriously hard time. I have all the specific specifications given to me by a co-worker on what it should be and it doesn't help. He directed me tigerdirect.com to find to find a goodmother at a low price, and told me if I needed more help I was to call them. I did and got recieved no actual help after 20 mins of wait time, the guy I got didn't seemed interested and seemed to be talking to someone else while we were speaking (I heard laughing and fart noises). So I'm turning here for help.
The specs my friend gave me where:
    1)An motherboard that supports SATA
    2)AMD preferred
    3).939 socket
    4)Agp capable, but upgradeable

These are the three I'm looking at so far:
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1739999&CatId=0
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1740008&CatId=0
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1740004&CatId=0

Any help who be greatly welcomed, I beginning to lose it looking for the right one.

youll more than likely want a motherboard with PCI-Express rather than AGP. AGP is old technology now.

wdowsing is correct in pointing out that your friend did suggest to you staying with AGP and I also picked out a board with AGP 4x/8x as well. Is the reason because you want to use what you have currently for a Graphics card or are you considering upgrading that card as well?

my bad! i thought he was building a new PC, didnt know he was just upgrading with his current components. Obviously if your building a new one from scratch youd go for PCI-E

I think the ASrock board has an AGP and a PCI-E slot on it but not sure. That would be alright for an AGP.

Right now I have enough money for the motherboard, Processor, and memeory. I was planning on getting a new graphics card later, so I wanted a motherboard that has AGP but could upgrade to a newer graphics card.

Scubabud the motherboard you suggested doesn't seem so good. Half the reveiws say it would even work.

There are 101 reviews and the board got 4 out of 5. The final decision is yours of course based on what you feel is the best for your needs.

I've read the reviews and it does go up and down and for someone that is doing their first build, I would stay with a board that is consistence throughout. Search a bit more on Newegg.com and when you find one that has consistent positive reviews from pros and novices you’re sure to have a winner.

I've decided to ditch the whole agp part, and go on ahead and get the motherboard, CPU, and video card (charge the card to my credit card) so I'm getting a PCI. Now I dont't want to spend $60+ and have bestbuy install it for me so is there nay dependable, guides for novices that explain clearly how to install al three of these and how to install the programs as well?
