Hey, I softmodded my xbox last year and it's been fine all the time, until this morning. When I turned it on, It goes to the error screen and I get error message 11.

...the only way I can get my xbox to go to a non-error screen is to turn my xbox on either with a game in, or with the disc tray open (which boots to the xbox softmod screen).

The search function is down on the site at the moment so I couldn't do any searches (because I'm sure this topic will of been covered before), but hopefully someone will be able to give me an answer, or link me upto finding an answer. I hope it's fixable as I don't want to lose all my games and things on my hdd.

Will clearing my cache help me out? I heard that clearing the cache is something that's usually a fix for a couple of problems. I understand the error code means 'no dvd' or something, but I don't see why it would want one in. If it helps I installed XBMC T3CH release 6/6/06 yesterday, but things have been fine afaik. Last night I was watching videos from youtube and the like on there, so I presume I've filled my cache maybe, but I don't know how to clear my cache on the xbox.

Edit: I've google'd it and I'm not really getting much help, but it seems it's a DVD problem, I'll open my xbox up later and make sure everything is connected, but I can get games to boot, so I don't see what is the problem. Could it be cache related do you think?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any help/ support.

I think whats happening is for some odd reason its not always detecting your dvd drive when its idle, try pulling out the cables and puttng them back in, kinda stupid but it somtimes works. Lemme know how it goes.

Would've replied sooner but I've been out. Anyway, just before I went out (a friend was round) I turned my xbox on to show him what had happened and it went to the EvoX dash as normal. The thing is though, the xbox was on overnight idle...so maybe it was just hot or tired from being on allnight...who knows.

Either way it seems fine now, it hasn't happened before either, but if it happens again I'll probably look at getting some new cables for the drive, if that doesnt work I'll have to get a new DVD-drive for it I guess, but I'm sure it may of only been an odd 1 time thing.

As for cache though, how do I go about cleaning that? As I hear it's good to clear out your xbox's X Y Z cache from time to time.

It might be some weird error to do with my xbox's heat. As I'm sure my cpu seems hot looking at the EvoX dash...can't remember the exact temp though.

It happneed again just recently (but once again the xbox had been on for about 2 hours or so.

I'm pretty sure it's due to heat now.

My room is so warm recently because of the hot weather, and even though I have a fan in my room, my room still stays very hot. I might need to look into getting some extra cooling for my xbox if it's possible to fit it in, or possibly modify the case to allow more ventilation.
