Hello I hooked up my computer audio to my home theater but I'm getting a feedback buzzing noise from the home theater speakers. I'm using my onboard sound card Realtek AC'97 audio I know it has something to do with that card cause when I plug m notebook into the home theaterthere is no feedback. My question is can I fix this or do I need to get another sound card and use that?

Any help thanks a million in advance.

Maybe you can fix the problem but unless you have no money, a new card is cheap and easy. You can try playing around with rearranging the cards in your slots. I started having problems with that system when I added a new card. I discovered I could fix on error and create a new one by swapping cards. With that, I bought a good card. Problem solved. Unfortunatly, it uses a slot.

Thanks for the reply. Yea I can't swap slots on the card it is onboard, so I guess I will just start saving pop cans and get enough money to get a good card.

I know it is on board. I had (still have but disabled) the same crappy chip set on my MOBO. They are not great. If they worked, right swapping cards in slots should not effect that chip set but it did in mine. If you are not willing to try the wacky suggestions given maybe you might try praying. Masybe you should try fixing the defective chip set yoyur self with a screw driver and a pair of pliers.

Actually my problem was not buzzing. Certain features (audio in) did not work after I added a new card. As I moved the cards around I could get that feature to work but other features failed. Get the picture! The chip set is not good.

Teddy may have gotten this one right. Buzzing is usually a grounding problem.

My original point is you will probably spend 20 hrs on this problem and I would guess you have a 50/50 chance of success. For about $25 +/- 5 you can buy a new card on the internet that will work. My time is worth more than $1 per hr for a project that might work.

Oh now I know what you mean I thought you meant swap the sound card around. I will look and see if I can swap cards around or remove cards and see if that helps. That will be a starting point.

It is KIND of wacky an unintuitive. However, intrupts WILL cause wierd things to happen to the cards and chip sets on the MOBO. If things change when you mix things up you will know something is not right. If they do not, scratch one problem. In that case you have a better MOBO than mine even though the build your own PC guys like that board. Switching the boards around is a trick I learned. Most cards only use some of the connections so swapping them around eliminates the shorted circut screwing up the buss or what ever. I am not all that techie but the trick works sometimes.

Other than that chip set my board is perfect. I had enough trouble setting the board up I wasn't going to return it for a 20 dollar card. My time and eyes are not worth it.
