I have used the very helpful guides on this site. But of the 4 vcd movies I have tried to encode and burn I get the same problem everytime!!! Audio is out of sync on 2nd cd. I use Tmpgenc and Virtual Dub. Everytime The first half of a movie encodes and audio is in sync but the second is out of sync by a good 2-3 seconds. I have tried 3 methods seperating audio and movie using virtual dub and encoding without using project wizard. Also without seperating them And as per guide on here using Virtual Dub 1. Click Video - Direct Stream Copy. 2. Click Audio - Full Processing Mode. 3. Click Audio - Compression. Select <No compression (PCM)> and click ok! 4. Click File - Save AVI and try it with TMPGEnc. Anyone help a newbie who has spent over 80 hours of encoding and nothing to show for it except half a film every time!!!! Thanks
How are you Splitting the Files in Half??? If you are useing Virtual dub to cut them in half then Don"t and if you are useing Tmpgenc"s "Source Range" Function then don"t do that either...Try encodeing it as One Big file and use Tmpgenc"s "Merge & Cut" to cut the file into 2 Parts...And there is a Better method than useing Virtual Dub to uncompress the audio because you can still get Sync Problems when useing Virtual Dub to Uncompress the audio..What works for me everytime is to use a Little Tool called "Decompress.exe" to turn the AVI with Compressed audio to an AVI with uncompressed audio which Most encoders will happily encode to mpeg..If you message me with your e-mail address I will send it to you....And Make sure that you are encodeing your AVI files to mpeg useing the Same Frame rate, Which means that if your AVI file has a Frame rate of 25fps then you can NOT encode that File to 29.976fps or 23.97fps you would have to encode it to 25fps, Because if you try you can get Sync problems and other Problems because Tmpgenc does not Properly convert Frame rates...good Luck
ohhh... minion !i had a question for you ... that frame rate stuff ... if my avi file that i converted to mpeg has a frame rate of 25 ... can i burn the vcd file with ntsc? I tried to burn it with nero6 but ... it reencodes it ... if i burn it at PAL setting ... would my dvd player still display it correctly? Sorry if i'm confusing ... i'm all new to this ... thanks!
Lostboy, do you still have the original avi file? If you do I would recomend using procoder to encode it to mpeg, because procoder has the option to change the framerate(in your case from 25 fps to 29.97 fps) However you may not need to do this at all: In response to your second question, it really depends whether or not your standalone can play back the pal vcd, mine does, but I know that some do not. Since all you're really risking is a cd, just try, you could even use a cd-rw and have no risk. I realize that procoder is difficult to come by(due to its cost) but aside from that method the only other way I know about to convert from pal to ntsc (or vice versa) pertains to dvds.
What he Said!!! PS: It usually isn"t the DVD Player that Would have problems Playing Pal VCD"s But your TV set Not being able to Display the Pal Resolution..You will know if your TV can"t if the Picture is In Black and white and distorted...And if you can get ahold of Canopus Procoder it is Probably the Only High Quality encoder that Can properly Convert Pal/NTSC Formats....
Hey msb5150 / minion , thanks for the reply Well i burnt the mpeg file into PAL format but it doesn't play .. the dvd says PCB and VCD under it. My menu page shows though. I converted it to ntsc with tmpg ... but i left the frames at 25 ... nero still says it is PAL ... Could i change the resolution and leave the frame rate and burn it as ntsc using tmpg and nero ? This is pretty fun ... thanks!
So you just converted it to NTSC Resolution But left it as a Pal Frame Rate?? Well This Might work it will still be in Pal because of the Frame rate but it might work...Cheers
