I havent yet bought my ipod but im about to.im planning on buying the ipod with video thats 30 gb. i just needed to know a few things before i do. first off ive heard from certain people that you cant take music from your own computer and put onto your ipod, you can only buy i tunes to put on your i pod. is this true?? and also how do you guys compare the apple ipod to other mp3 players out on the market today. do u recomend a different mp3 player out there?

Naw, that's rubbish. Of course you can :)

I like the iPod. I have a few iPods, but they have their strengths & weaknesses.

If you are looking for the best in sound, go with the likes of Creative or Archos, because in my experience, they are very good.

If you are looking for all-round value and a decent mp3/pmp player, then you should look at the iRiver range.

The reason I like the iPod is basically the interface is fantastic, and I haven't come accross a decent mp3 player with the playlisting functions of the iPod. Also, it integrates well with my iTunes.

You should really do some research before you make any choices though. There is no mp3 player out there that will favour everyone, you will have to find the one best suited to your needs :)
