I will ask my bro to buy the processor if it works fine without any problems... But what i think is the only one and im sure is http://www.starmicroinc.net/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=ADO4000IAA5DD ? if it can go higher and your sure it can than please help out! light, checkout the cpu-z program. it is meant to give you info on components. i might be able to help you if you can provide the motherboard make and model #, but tbh im not enjoying ferreting out the info you need on the web. it looks like the link you provided has less clock speed than what is supposed to come with the computer stock. let me know, thanks.

before i search anymore, ill tell exactly what mrobvious over at some extreme forum recommends: "You will probably end up buying a new rig. I would get a new CPU, PSU, motherboard, and maybe even a case."

the thing is that emachines is for budget-conscious people and because of that they do not upgrade very well. take note of the amount and variety of expansion slots for sound cards, graphics, etc. i had a hp and the upgradebility was like 400 mhz. i expect similar for your computer as well. i could not find one page that listed what all processors could go in there

heres all i could come up with:
Processor Support Supports socket 940 for AMD® Athlon™ 64 FX processors
System Bus Support Up to 2000 Mhz
Memory Support Two DDR2 800/667/533 MHz SDRAM slots
Support up to 2 GB system memory

sorry. mr obvious had the right idea.
