That guide is just to copy all your music back to your computer. If you just want to erase you iPod all you have to do is open up iTunes and delete all yours file and when the box pops up asking are you sure, just click keep files. then re-update your iPod. Then all you gotta do it drag and drop all your files back into iTunes and they will be like you havent even touch them in the first place.
