...i'm trying to capture from VHS with virtualdub. But if there are bad parts on the tape white screens apears on the capturing. I've tried different codecs but that's not obviously the problem. Anyone know what to do? Or you can't? Thanks in advance
Do you know for certain that the parts of the tape are bad wherever you get these white screens? If so you could use Vdub to edit those parts out after copying them. Otherwise I'd start looking at the possibility it's the video card dropping frames.
It's a 10 year old tape, so i tried the very same part a couple of times, but still this white screen comes up.
What kind of capture card are you using? What cabling is between the VHS and Card? If you have the option to use RCA video cable instead of SVideo or firewire that may be more forgiving of bad signal and allow the video to show even if it shows poorly. As well you could try posting in the software forum since there may be settings in VDUB I am not aware of.
