I assume you are talking about the flip top for the v12 or slim ps2. In that case you can lift the entire hatch for inserting/removing discs normally, or just lift up the inner circle to perform undetected swaps.

The Slimtool enable you to close the lid whilst playing your back ups.It is easier to fit than the magic switch, which users have reported as being fiddly to fit.
It is longer lasting than the magic switch and does not burn out your laser like the magic switch does.
You can check it out here.

Ya, I definatly would go against a ghost switch or magic switch. Heard to many horrow stories about they ps2 thinking the door was open that long. And on my old ps2 i had a flip top, then it took a crap and i put the original top on and sent it back to sony. They STILL fixed it for free and sent it back, and i've had that ps2 for 2 years..

If you're looking for good looks and keeping your warranty intact, I would suggest going for the Magic Switch and using the tape method in place of part C. I made a tutorial how to do this here:

    From the official SlimTool.com's website:

"Console can be used with lid open or closed."

I was having all kinds of problems with the slim tool/magic switch (not sure which one, as it wasn't exactly the one that I'd ordered). I hated the fact that the lid needed to be kept open at all times, and I couldn't get it to work anyway. I could never get Part C to work correctly. Then I found JspOt's tutorial, and it worked! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH JspOt!!

I would recommend this to anyone with the new slim PS2's. I think it's the cheapest method at only about $3.99, and you don't have to void your warranty. Here's the link again, in case anyone else needed it.

Thanks again for all your help.

hey there no problem, I too think that the Magic Switch is a cheap way to go when you combine with the tape mod. It looks good too because the pieces are black and you do not have to break off anything.

I got my "tools" from Consolepoint.com
They had very reasonable prices (even after shipping was included), and shipping was pretty quick. However, their support is lacking. I sent them an email yesterday asking for help with the tools, as I couldn't seem to get them to work, but they still haven't contacted me. Not even a courtesy email, stating that they will try to get back to me asap.

I just want to note that you need to use firm foam tape, if that makes sense. All I had was the tape you use around your doors and windows to help with insulation. The effect of that tape died today already. I cut a small piece of plastic and double-sided tape, and put that underneath the foam tape, and I think that may help. Otherwise, I'll just go out and buy some of the other type.

The type of tape I used on my tutorial is a foam double sided tape. Obviously I only peeled off one side and it has stayed on strong since Christmas.
