We have a room with a number of machines built around the Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI motherboard. The processors are all older AMD using the 939 socket. There's not much available in newer AMD 939 cpu chips. These have been very reliable. Is it worth considering to get the latest 939 AMD or is it time to go to a motherboard with the AMD 2+ socket? Thanks in advance john slimick slimick@pitt.edu
939 hasn't seen any new processors for two years, if you want an upgraded system you could consider AM2, but since you will need a new board, CPU and RAM, you may as well go with Intel 775, as you will get better performing chips on that platform.
