I am still using Ub 10.xx, the last version before the 'new' screen. I HATED it, I have tried more than 10 (seriously, probably more like 20) times to revert to the Gnome classic desktop, following instructions from many different forums. No way has worked for me. I have followed ALL instructions/directions to no avail. They all say: this will work. Hah! Can anyone offer a solution to my dilemma?? I am not a programmer, (I am a retired heavy equiptment operator!)tho I tried some of the more technical offreings.
    Anyways, -c-

it doesn't have to be ubuntu to be ubuntu, the two links below are distro's of ubuntu the first has a LOOK CHANGER which includes the gnome type if your specs are low use the lite version & or turn off compwiz, the 2nd i don't use however mint is also based on gnome, the 3rd link is where a list of linux OS's are take your pick, use a re-writable cd/dvd or a virtual pc to test run then install over your current ubuntu or find a distribution of ubuntu that is LTS (long term support)

I've never tried it, but if you're hung up on Ubuntu, give Mint MATE edition a try. MATE is a fork of Gnome2.

    How ya going Jan?

Just use some other easy distro like Mint, elementary OS etc.
