Goin to try linux again but have some questions

    ight this goes out to all you linux pros.

    my first attempt at linux wasn't sop good.

    i installed ubuntu linux on my 100 gb hdd.
    but i also had a backup hdd so i could keep everyhting from windows(movies music stuff lie that)

    but linuc would aalways say u dont have permission to right to this drive. so icouldn't save anyhitng on there. or use the backup hdd at all.


    second: when i would try to install programs anything. it would give a error saying something about a child process.

    so my question is can someone help me mount my backup drive so i can use it with linux. and aslo just help em install a few programs so i get the hang of it.

    your problem is that linux doesnt support writing to ntfs hdd format because m$ owns the format (I think :S)

    you can do one of two things:

    you can back up all your files from the hdd and format it fat

    or

    there's a program that lets you write on the ntfs partition...look for it on softpedia.com cant recall wat it was called
