Price isn't an issue. I'm looking for an internal CD or CD-RW drive that can do solid fast audio extraction. Is Plextor it? I'm primarily interested in audio extraction and have a DVD+RW drive so I don't necessarily need a CD-RW, but it appears that simple CD drives are on their way out. Any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated.

AFAIK, the LiteON 16x DVD (LTD-163 and 163D) have the fastest and 100% accurate DAE.

Just a follow-up. I've decided after searching the net, reading reviews, and checking pricewatch.com, to purchase the LITEON LTD163 DVD-ROM. It is supposed to have some of the best and fastest DAE around. I'll post further when I've had a chance to install and use it.

Not to steal the spotlight, but my LTD163D is performing perfectly.

Okay it may be a bit loud, but like a Ferrari, the performance more than makes up for it.

BTW, I'm not trying to do a direct comparo b/w a LiteON and Ferrari. It's only an analogy.

What's the difference between the 163 and the 163D?
