Good Idea to get a router?

    Hi, I have a netgear wgb511 wireless router and am wondering if I should use it. Any pros and cons on the subject?

    Well it depends on if u have multiple PC's amd want to give access to the net for the pc's. Secondly i am not really familar with that brand of router, would suggest the Lynksys router it does the job to a "T".

    I only have one pc. I've been using a straight connection to the pc, but I would like some extra protection while online. I've heard that routers are the best thing.

    can also use software firewalls such as ms xp sp2 firewall, free version of zone alarm

    I tried using zone alarm, but I didn't like it. I just heard that, it is better to be behind a router.

    Look I can speak only for myself and i say this although it may increase the level of protection by having a router it still doesnt mean im not goin to run a Firewall or Antivirus software for extra protection.
