i usually buy Sony DVd -R's and they work fine they usually cont 30$ canadian for a 50 pack. i was just wondering if there is any other media that performs better or equal to the sony's but for a cheaper price?...i dont mind if i have to buy it online.

    thx

    Hi there,

Yes it's possible to buy extremely cheap media.

But most good media pretty much cost the same.

If you want my opinion, buy Taiyo Yuden from http://www.blankmedia.ca

They are based in Canada, I have heard only good of them, and their price are very good, specialy for Taiyo Yuden (The best media).

    http://www.blankmedia.ca/prodsubcats.asp?id=62

Their price compares to Verbatim, and Fujifilm.

Yes there will be a little shipping fee, but hey, you are getting genuine Taiyo Yuden, you can't go wrong there.

I still have some Ritek G04 to burn, but when I'm out, I'm gonna probably get 200 x DVD-R 4X TAIYO YUDEN SILVER LACQUER.

    $80.90can for 200, can't go wrong there :)

    200 x DVD-R 8X TAIYO YUDEN SILVER LACQUER for $122.95

I don't believe canada has any Big Lots stores.I live in west central Ohio, and those same stores are called Odd Lots, same chain.
My local oddlots just has the chinese made panasonic discs. Not even going to chance them. They also have some crappy memosux discs.

tmfloria: Staples have 30 pack spindles of fuji for $9.94 and these are made by taiyo yuden!
Office depot has the maxell 50 pack spindles for $17.99. The Japanese ones have been turning up hitachi and the taiwanese are turning up ritek. Their bargain was last week: Spindles of 100 of their office depot brand 8x for $28.00. These were also ritek's!

    Hello Kinza,

meritline.com is is the US right ?

We live in Canada, by the time you do the "Can To US" conversion, plus customs blablabla it kills the deal.

    www.blankmedia.ca is in Canada.
All you pay is a little shipping and of course our beautiful taxes, but you get genuine Taiyo Yuden.

If you buy the 4x ones, they are suppose to be TYG01 but you may end up with a batch of TYG02.

Anyway, you still get the best media at a reasonable price.

    Where's what STUNT2061 payed for:

    $37.31 CAD = $30.4908 USD

    So he received 50 x TYG02 for $30,49US

Not bad not bad at all !!!

I still haven't bought from them yet, still have lots of media to use 1st, but everyone who bought there are 100% happy.

STUNT2061, you bought the 4x (TYG01) and received some TYG02.
those are the same as the 8x Taiyo Yuden !

Man I gotta get some !!!

You lucky duck. You should be able to burn those 8x (Don't push your luck hahaha) without a problem !

Yes, some will burn them at 12x !

tmfloria, That's still about 39 cents a piece, not counting the governor's share on those rca's.

I just picked up another pack of those fuji's at staples, taiyo yuden for 33.3 cents a piece. They still had quite a few left. They also have 100 slim fuji cases for $9.94.
10 cents apiece on those slim cases,I had to pick up a couple hundred cases for that price.

Ricohjpn-01 are pretty good. Maxell uses that mfg code on majority their +4x discs.I've burned over 400 of those ricohs-95% success.
