Was wondering if anyone had good suggestions for a good quality tv tuner card. I'm setting up a PC for a pvr or dvr. The PC is an older Dell with P4, 1Gb RAM, 120 GB hdd, Nvidia 6800 PCI. I will be running Windows XP MCE 05, and plan on using Beyond TV software. The PC's purpose will be only for this use. I will have to go with a PCI card, looking for dual tuner (must have for watch and record) and HD would be a bonus. My source will be standard cable from Comcast. I will be outputting to a 50" Sony HDTV 1080i LCD TV. My main concern is the quality of the picture I will get.

I did check these out, any comments?

The first one and third have only one (NTSC) turner each.

The second has 2 turners, but only 1 is NTSC(analog), the other is ATSC/Clear QAM. This is also the only one that mentions HD quality (1080i). I don't know if it would record hd. With this card you would be able to record/watch a standard cable channel along with watch/record a cable or over the air digital channel.

NTSC will receive standard cable. ATSC/Clear QAM is for over the air digital and digital cable receiption.

You will need to check with Comcast on what is necessary to receive HD from them.

In order to watch/record 2 standard cable channels you would need something like this.

Hope that helps (and hope I got the NTSA/ATSC/Clear QAM thingy right) :p
