I run a 1.8 GH Dell, 768mg DDR Ram, 7200rpm Drive. Say, an average full movie .AVI, about 800MB, highest quality setting. I am averaging 19 to 24+ hours, at a frame rate +/- 4FPS. Is this a realistic time? If it IS longer than usual, as I suspect, where should I start looking for things to correct? Machine has always fared well in its class on speed/performance tests. I know it's not a hardware issue. Always maintain and run utilities, to keep my Dell lean and mean as possible. Any answers are appreciated! THANKS. Gary
hi garpt I have a dell demension 8100 with 512mb ram,and for me to make an mgeg2 with TMPGEnc,takes me about 5 hours tops.I use the high quality slow setting,i read where the highest quality slowest is pretty much a waste of time, since you really cant tell with the quality difference.Your encoding time seems a bit much even for the slowest setting. You might want to try mainconcepts encoder, its alot more expensive, but it encodes in real time or faster, trial version available. I dont have an answer how to speed you up with your curent settings, and encoder. good luck jim _X_X_X_X_X_[small]you should never take life too seriously....you'll never get out of it alive!! if you can read this..you dont need glasses. read and sign this:http://www.petitiononline.com/fairuse/petition.html[/small]
