I am looking for a solid time line editor for video looping and making clips. I have win7 and windose movie maker live sucks for this I put the old vista WMM on it but freeware wise there has to be something better!
The best that I have ever use is Womble mpeg video wizard dvd 4.0. You can still find this version on the internet for a discontinued price. Version 5.0 the latest version had a steep price increase and is basically the same as 4.0. This program has a good timeline, you can add titles, transitions and even a second audio track. It can edit mpeg/avi/mp4 and outputs to mp4/avi/mpeg/dvd. I use it when I want to make my own compilation of video clips. It can edit and join/cut different formats at the same time on the timeline. The cadillac of timeline editors is videoredotvsuite, but this program only edits dvd's and mpegs. I use it to turn my r-rated dvd's to pg-13 movies. It's frame accurate, has a large viewscreen. It's a very accurate editor that doesn't reencode so the finished video has the same quality as the original. It doesn't have transitions or second audio tracks it's mainly a pure mpeg editor. (removing commercials/scenes). If you just want to edit avi (xvid/divx/h264) use avidemux, it has a very basic timeline, but this is the best avi editor currently available. It won't join different clips unless they are the same codec/size/bitrate. I use all 3 of these programs for different tasks, but womble is the only one that can actually do the same thing as the other two plus alot more.
