    hey guys,

I have a couple big video files on my computer and am trying to find a good video converters that will let me get the video down to say 20-30MB I have tried 2 so far. I have tried Nero Encode but that only lets you convert it to the nero digital format but the problem there is when i send my friends the video they can't play it cause they don't have nero, and DR. Divx but all that does is crash less than 5 minutes after i start encoding it. I'd appreciate any other alternatives anyone could suggest. thank you. The files im trying to covert are in xvid format

XviD is still one of the best encoders out.

You don't need Nero to playback Nero digital. Nero Digital is just mp4.
For instance instead of Nero's filters they could use Haali's splitter and ffdshow to decode.

As testified by other users, winavi does not always output a DVD compliant file (or structure). Just thought I should mention that.
