Hi all, I'm been having some spyware issues again. In the last couple of days I've noticed that my google searches are not right. Let's say I do a search for "car finance" or something typical like that. The first few google links will always redirect to "81.95.146.163" which then redirects me to some other web page which vaguely relates to my search. I have scanned my system using Panda, Adaware and Spybot but nothing has come up. If somebody could take a look at my hijackthis log it would be much appreciated. THanks in advance. hmm, i have had a lot of experience in this matter. My suggestion about your browser: First of all, u use internet explorer, dont. Use something like firefox. Second, your problem lies in the fact that your browser is being hijacked! For this i would use a program called XoftSpy, it searches for and destroys your problem. If that doesnt do it then you should get two more programs (you should get these even if it does work) Ewido and trend Micro Anti-spyware. Haha, everybody likes to stay away from the hijack this logs =P Sorry but iam as lazy as everybody else, but what i suggest is that you find the main files in suspect in your log and search them on google. From there you can see wether the file in suspect is an infection or not. i.e: out of the the file "C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe" you choose the suspect file name, which in this case is "smss.exe" and then search that file on google. before all this you should see the programs that you know are safe and have installed yourself. An example would be file "C:\Program Files\Panda Software\Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware\TPSrv.exe" this is something you have installed and can trust. Tick the box next to it (on the left), then continue to do the same for the other files that are safe or you have installed. Then click on the box that says "add checked to ingorelist" this box is located at the bottom right corner. If you have any problems, just ask. I hope this works mate, Best of luck!
Hi, Thanks for the tips. I've somehow managed to resolve most of the issues. The combination of Kaspersky AV, Ewido, AdAware, SpyBot and XoftSpy managed to find a couple of things and remove them. Just have one issue outstanding.. and that's that my IE browser is partially hijacked. Only for non-existent domains though.. so it's not so bad. I even upgraded to IE 7 but it's still there. Almost seems like a DNS issue so I'm investigating this now. Hopefully I'll find the culprit soon.
Hi Niobis, Thanks. O1 is not there any more, I've removed it. I also removed the O17 entries in my HijackThis log - this was the culprit that was redirecting invalid URL's to some spyware site. In addition to this I also had to remove two rogue DNS servers in TCP/IP properties (IP's referenced in O17 of HijackThis). Do you know which malware adds the O17 entries? Whatever it is I'm concerned if I've removed it completely. Thanks again. Here is a (hopefully) clean HijackThis log. Lop.com is one infection that uses the Domain hacks. If you see entries for this and do not recognize the domain as belonging to your ISP or company, and the DNS servers do not belong to your ISP or company, then you should have HijackThis fix it. Btw, log is clean. Having problems?
Hi Niobis, No problems any more. Thanks very much for all the assistance. Really appreciated. Cheers!
