So for christmas I bought myself... I mean santa brought me a Dell SP2208WFP 22-inch Widescreen Silver Flat Panel LCD Monitor. This monitor looked incredible from the specs Dells website... I mean the elves gave me. So christmas morning I open it up and hook it up. I press the power button on it and nothing... the website (elves) even said that it would be height adjustable, well it wasn't... the monitor just tilted on its access.. The website also stated that it was full 1080p, well it isnt... it has a max resolution of 1152 x 864. So today I called to try to get and exchange setup for the monitor I ordered. I was transfered 9 times before I got someone who could semihelp me. I explained to him that the monitor didn't have the specs that the website indicated and that it didnt work, and that I wanted to exchange it for the monitor that I ordered. He told me that since I owned the monitor since December 3 and was now calling I couldn't return the monitor, or exchange it for a different model that actually did what it said it did. I then said, this was a christmas gift and that I basically didn't get it until yesterday. I was then told that dosent matter because it was delivered december 3rd. After arguing with him for 15 minutes and also talking with his supervisor I agreed to exchange the monitor for the same model. They then told me that they would overnight air it to me. I was somewhat satisfied when they said that until I was put on hold. The guy came back and told me that the exchange hs been processed and told me the steps I would need to take inorder for the process to be painless. He said that they would overnight air me a shipping box to ship the monitor back to them, then I would have to pay for the shipping back to them. I would then have to wait 3-4 weeks to have the monitor inspected buy a technician to determine the problem before they would ship me a monitor. They would the process my order and within1 week of the tech determineing the problem they would overnight air me a certified refurbished monitor.. After hearing this I was pissed because I was under the impression that I would be getting a brand new monitor within 2 or so days, not 4-weeks and a Refurbished piece of crap. I then got pissed and asked why the exchange was going to be managed this way, and he explained to me because I have owned the monitor for over 3 weeks, and I am now just calling... might I remind you that it was a christmas gift and I basically didn't get it or use it until the 25th. I told them to cancel the exchange, and I am going to ship the monitor back to them and call up my credit car company and dispute the $412 charge for the monitor. This has been a horrible experience and I will tell you I will never buy a dell product again... I honestly dont know what to say about the whole thing... it is complete BS... so thats what I have done today... I guess I just needed someplace to rant about the situation.. ~Domreis
it is allways a good thing when you buy something for yourself, to make sure that you get what you order, did you look at the shiping invioce when you got your order? this link is the model number you posted http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/monitor_sp2208wfp?c=us&cs=esg&l=en&s=esg
I dont see what the issue was to begin with? That monitor is 1080p, when you hook it up using an HDMI cable though. If you use DVI or VGA of course its gonna be less As for it not turning on...yeah they should have replaced it, immediately.
The problem is that it was a christmas gift so I wasn't going to open it until christmas morning... The shipping invoice said that it was the model that I ordered, but the website has the specs for that model as the ultrasharp model. Yes the link that you posted is for the model that I ordered. I received the package on December 4th, and dell only has a 21 day exchange policy, so when I opened it on December 25th and found out that it was broken it was 21 days, and of course the call center was closed so I had to call on the 26th making it the 22nd day I have owned it, resulting into them not replacing it with a new one, and it would take 4-5 weeks to replace it with a Refub. I think that is a complete load of crap because they should take into account that it could very well be a christmas present, which it was (to myself). I have already shipped the monitor back and the credit card company said they would dispute the charges for us when I explained the problem. I am just very frustrated with el because I know they make good monitors, (unlike most of their PCS) and the customer service just dropped my opinion even lower. I am going to Frys today so I will hopefully find a nice monitor there... if not I will go to apple and pick up a 23 inch cinema display. ~Domreis
