OMG people are so stupid... There is no possible way at this point that you can make a backup of this game. The only way right now is the hack coming out to play dual layer dvd's. There are hackers in the process of doing it however. Ok... I'll try to explain it. If you make an ISO of this game using DVD decryptor you will notice that the game only comes out to being 3.5 gigs or something like that. However, when you try to burn it to a single layer dvd it will tell you that there is not enough space. So, The reason being is that the second layer is EXACTLY the same as the first layer except it is written backwards, which currently there are no burners that are able to do that (that i am aware of). The PS2 will only actually read from data from the first layer, like a dvd rom. What it does, is on the first layer there are thousands of references to places and files and points on the second layer. Even though data is not read from there it has to be there. So basically what has to be done is that some enthusiastic person has to go through and find EVERY reference to the second layer on the first layer and instead point it to a place on the first layer. Then after all of this is done you have to rip the second layer out completely and burn the first layer to a dvd5. I know all this because I know the person who is currently doing it. Currently, the game is about 70% playable on a DVD5. Ok, hopefully this will clear it up.

Damn why are you all acting like "the person" has already done it? I know he said it should be ready sometime this week but i'm not holding my breath. Myself, i'm waiting until he does it to tell him thanks and all that.

Yes, please, everyone must realize that at this time, GT4 cannot be backed up.

When you CAN back it up, however the method, trust me, you'll know about it. If you don't follow these forums you'll be able to find out how and why with out much searching.

There won't be a secret handshake, no special hardware, no magic DVD media burnt at 1x speed with DMA off using Linux and a 133mhz PentiumMX. When the method is figured out you'll be able to learn it from anywhere on the hundreds of forums dedicated to PS2 backups.

Ugh, please don't encourage people to keep wasting their time on eDonkey downloading things that don't work or wasting their DL DVDs trying to back the game up.

There is no working release right now by anyone, labelled as "nuked" or not. I have all the capabilities to find out this information as anyone else might, and the fact that nobody has even come up with a smidgen of a file name that truly "works" makes your comments ridiculously suspicious.

Do you honestly think that if a release was out that actually worked it would be in such top secret hush-hush circles that nobody would have the slightest idea where to find it or even what group released it? Or even a file name? I think not, as it would be bragging rights supreme, and the people in the know would already know all about it.

PTP and OTP explanation from this site http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/computer/dvdInfo/dvdInfo_25.html .It shows you how the structures of reading from PTP and OTP differ. If you look at this,no affordable dvd burner can support this process as of yet.If you look at PTP it reads from the second layer and the first layer between parts, kinda like shift breaks between the layers.OTP does a rotation reading the first layer all the way through, then reads the second layer all the way through which continues back to the first layer.

Single Layer=Reads all the way through

Dual Layer OTP=Reads all the way through the first layer, and then reads all the way through the second layer

Dual Layer PTP=When it reads it jumps from first layer to the second layer between the session of reading.

This was some pretty good information I found looking it up,and reading on it.I wonder how long Toxic has been working on this utility for patching dual layered discs, and when to expect it.I hope it is true,so far nothing has been successfull.

Flip_mode why sit back and wait though, pretty much everybody else is doing that at the moment(besides a couple of a people). If everyone sits back and waits nothing will get accomplished.I do agree though about the numerous posts about this game,it is ridiculous.
