    Hey every1,

    I currently own a:

    Compaq Presario Computer System
    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 26004
    2.13 GHz, 480MB of RAM

And I own a graphic card:

    S3 graphics Pro Savage DDR
    32mb graphic card
    Directx 9.0c

Anyways, I'm thinking of upgrading my graphic card, because as you can tell S3 graphics suck and my graphic card isn't worth shit!

So I was wondering If anyone could tell me what are the best graphic cards out there today. Because I want to buy a card for gaming and so on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thnx =:)

Sorry both cards are Nvidia, i would say Nvidia have the upper hand with the gfx cards right now.

see if your motherboard has an agp slot as most likely the s3 card is built into the motherboard

do you have pcie?you need that for a 7800gtx.if you have agp the 6800gt or ultra is pretty good.if you have regular old style pci slot, which is a different slot then pcie,id go build a new pc with a better motherboard.you can use your case possibly and your hard drive, cdrom, dvd, etc.motherboards are cheap about $35usd and up.posibly use the same 2600+ or upgrade to a 64 bit cpu.you could buy a cheap video card for about 200-300usd[agp or pcie, dont buy a regular pci video card wont be able to play many games not fast enough].then you can get your battlefield 2 on or what ever you want to play.i play every game including fear demo on my 2800+ with a gf 6800gt agp,768 ram[memory]looks real good to.doom i can play on medium my processor is slow, but it looks and plays fine.hope this helped peace

    One more question...

Why would the card be built into agp slot? Do all graphic cards nowadays come like that?

The onboard card is not built into the AGP slot, if there is one. It is built into the motherboard.

yea like grandpa said, its builtinto the motherboard which always is a slower interface.so get a motherboard without onboard video.i think the asrock939-sata2 motherboard dosnt have onboard video but you will have to change the processor or cpu.

go to compaqs website look up make and model, see what is in the pc.klike agp slot or integrated video and pci slots.you should be able to read about what was originaly put in your pc and what is compatable or what you can upgrade to.
