    Oh, here we go, Creaky? just itchin to ban someone. My responses are not to offend, But as I have stated using your membership or status as member or moderator to persaude people to agree or adhere to your opinion is abuse of your priviliges as member or moderator (profiling post). Many have notice your dictative behavior (with glee) which is not necessary or welcomed in my opinion. Your speaking to an adult like many members here and I for one have a mind, a computer, & blank media, of my own. And all are what I choose respectfully of others opinion. Save your keyboard bully tactics for members who deliberately break forum rules or purposely work to insult or offend, not members who state their choices and opinions and wish to be left alone for doing so. "I say up" "you say down". Why the cat fight stance to most of what I have to say here? Learn to deligate your authority. Know what is truly wrong from a broad perspective not just your own. Let got that EGO Though I am descriptive here, It's only to make a reflective point(The man in the mirror) take a look at yourselves. Use your PM option. It's a way of solving real discrepancies, not just private plot talk amongst forum kronies. Moving on......

    looks like someone we all know too, but has cleaned up his act a bit.
    and to edit, i just saw paradyme's post after i did mine.
    i'd say creaky is the authority on verbatims as doc is to TY's. hence there 1,000's of burns on said media.
    i have never used sony, nor will i try, i use what works for me.
    i'm not coming to anyone's defense here, and your opinion and choice of media is yours and [bold]YOURS[/bold] only.
    i just think that we/us should resolve this issue before it turns ugly. you are correct paradyme, you state what you like, and thats fine with me.
    everyone is different with what they use.

    @paradyme, no i'm not itching to ban anyone. when have i ever used my 'status' to persuade ppl to agree with me. stuff i post is not there to force anyone to do anything. My biggest 'crime' is advising ppl to use decent media. The choice is theirs, i give my advice and ppl are welcome to ignore/disagree with it. However you're bang out of order to accuse me of abusing any priviledge quite frankly as it's not even in my character. I am a fairly assertive person (in real life) but never abuse that either. However that has/should have nothing to do with how a person posts on a website. I had no idea as to your age, i always try to post so as not to offend someone if they're a different age to my perception of that person's age from their post. To call me a keyboard bully is ridiculous, i've never been any kind of bully. As to delegating authority i've been doing that (in real life) for about 15years but on AD i don't put myself above others or post with an attitude of any kind. Being mod now means i have to (sometimes) word things differently than another poster would do, but i'm assuming you're referring to my posting prior to being mod. Either way you're just plain wrong. I make it my business to veer ppl away from questionable media and there's nothing wrong with that, i just happen to think 'Verbatim TY' are exceptional discs. over here in the UK there really is no price difference in buying crap over good media. And as for Sony, i have found virtually no places to buy Sony at a reasonable cost otherwise i'd use them. I concede that in other countries the Verbs are not as cheap as other media but hey.

    As to ppl noticing my apparent 'dictative behavior (with glee) which is not necessary or welcomed in my opinion' - i guess this is because i asked you not to talk about piracy or something once in a post. I can't remember the exact details but feel free to remind me and i'll happily edit this reply if piracy wasn't the correct word. You see i'm a very reasonable (adult) person, note how even after your reply i'm replying in a constructive manner.

    [bold]At risk of you accusing me of being a bully again, how about we get back on topic re the media and you keep your misguided and incorrect/irrelevant comments re my personality/online conduct to yourself[/bold]. You are more than welcome to push whichever media you like, for instance i don't recall replying to any of your Sony posts at all; i personally never use Sony for DVD media hence why i don't post anything about them. But at least i try to research other media as best as i can. And i pass that info on when i have it, if any of it is incorrect ppl only have to holler. As i say i'm a reasonable adult and often quite happily edit replies when someone points out a mistake/blonde moment.

    last comment - I am not crony-ing with anyone on posts, i have literally 260 threads to catch up on and this was simply the next on my list.

    @ paradyme: i just find it offensive that in the media posts you are trying to use a subtle but sarcastic form of launguage to mailign various members of the forum.No ones done anything to you but you continually push the boundaries to see how far you can get away with it.

    You have your views and so does every one else but the way you come across , you seem to be making it very personal.

    Nope, the OD 16X code out to RICOHJPN and don't test out as well with the Nero CD/DVD Speed testing program. I've since switched to the FUJI MIJ's. Don't get me wrong, if you can still find the 8X at a good sale price, get them, but my humble opinion is to stay away from the 16X until they go back to Ritek again.

    After reading all the posts, one thing that strikes me,

    the best media is still to be decided, and that will be the media that lasts and still plays/reads flawlessly in 20/30 or more years time.


    So far I've backed up over 800 dvd & games all scan well, but I'm more interested in how they'll scan, as I said, Years down the line.

    ...and that we don't know.

    I find this site very knowledgeable and usually courteous, which sets it apart from a lot of sites, it be kool if we all try and keep the digs out of the posts.

    @ashj - hear, hear on the media, and on the comment re the 'digs'.

    thankfully the stupid comments seem to have ceased (for now) and hopefully the person who keeps doing it will have the maturity to keep it that way in future.

    The only thing worse than being talked about ! Is not being talked about ! Don't worry about ParaDyne ! some people just enjoy hearing their own voice I guess ! If someone has experience & knowledge on or in any subject ! Be it Dvd Technology Like You & the Doc exspecially knowledge gained by first hand excperience in the trenches ! You have to respect that ! If I'd have found out about afterdawn.com sooner I would'nt have bought Ultran 4X DVD-R craP a couple of years ago ! But I did & llearned from it (DON'T BUY CRAP!) lol! Now I try and research everything and anything if i can before buying ! With a little help from my friends ! Thanx Y'all ! Also I agree that you don't have to agree with everyone on every subject but this isn't a fight room ! You can respectfully disagree with anyone or their opinions but ! people shouild'nt be dogging each other out & I don't mean you guys either ! Besides if you got mad & left Who would laugh at us Dumpster Dummies ! I guess it takes all kinds though ? ANYWAYS !CREAKY & dOC & EVERYONE ELSE - Happy Holidays ! & Happy Burning!!!!

    gear79 Well when I get a good diving day I find the covers still on most of the cases ! Often the dvd's are even still in the cases too ! albeit either they've been run thru the DIMPLE-ATOR /DATA -DESTROYER ! or they do the quick & dirty version and just scratch then up with a sharp object or knife ! have found a couple About four undamaged movies - 2 copies of Crash ! 1 copy of the shining brideof chucky 1 copy & 1 copy of 28days later ! Last time I dove I only found 7 cases but found 7 cd's intact in their jewel cases so not a total loss anyway? Why would you worry about finding the covers when you can download them ? Other than saving money on Paper & ink? Just curious ya' see! In any case (LOL!) Happy Burning & Happy Holidays-gear79

    i d/l my covers and print them out, along with the dvd label on my dvd with my new toy, the epson r340
    i just cant find the dvd cases in the dump anymore, i look every week, but they seem to not throw them away now. i did find a star wars movie the other day by itself in the case..
