Hi All, Just picked up the Lite-On LVW-1105HC dvd recorder this past Sunday. $119.00 at CompUSA. I mainly wanted a dvd recorder for dubbing old VHS tapes to dvd. Works great,The dvd's,believe it or not, look better than the tapes from which they were dubbed. The Specs said it was DIVX capable.I tried some Divx files I used in the Phillips dvp642.This Lite-On recorder played them and even played a Divx file that has Qpel, which would not play in the Phillips. This is a great little machine for the price.I haven't seen many Divx dvd recorders available for under $250 to $400. Needless to say I am very happy with this machine and recommend it for anyone wanting to move up from dvd player to dvd recorder... Bronco
I got one of these for Christmas. The only way I can describe it is "Piece Of Shit". I have lost probably nearly 20-30 dvd's since trying to record. I've only successfully recorded to DVD maybe 5 times. Any other time, I either can't get the dvd to prepare fully, or it screws up during finalizing. I've tried contacting customer support which I NEVER got a response back. My father recently purchased an off-name brand DVD recorder and has had NO problems with it...and it cost around 50 bucks cheaper than what this one is posted as costing.
