hi i really need help with my starview. i currently have starview 2 'the box' but when i flick throught he channels the screen goes green then freezes and the box restarts. i am currently living in ireland and using firmware ver 4.51e or something like that. and the loader is 4.00 i think. i don't really understand it now. all or any help would be greatful
It's a slight glitch in the firmware,happens to me sometimes too.Nothing major you can fix it by re-installing the firmware on your box if you want. Just be sure what API version is definately on your box ? Press the 'Menu' button on your remote control and select 'System Info' and post back,it should be api ver 4.50.
hey, i checked out the version. it's 4.51e_E. something like that. but not 4.50. this is the one i got with the box when i got it. is this the incorrect version? i dunno? how do i get and install the new version. would this stop the green screen problem i'm currently having. sorry for all the questions.
upload version 4.54 with the logo file, this is a known fault with version 4.50 Irish and 4.51 the UK version
where could i get this file and how do i change it on my starview 2. when i got the box it has 4.51e_E already installed on it. i dunno if this was an english or irish file. i'm in ireland using N*L. thanks in advance for any help that is given to fix my problem

You wont need to delete the firmware as the 4.54 firmware will over-write the old one You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null Modem Cable http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. thank you for your response guys i really appriciate the time you guys take to respond to my problem. would it be possible give me the full title of the file i have to download. i have found different versions of this 4.54 file and don't know which one is irish and english. i would need the irish file as i'm in dublin. thanks steve
there is only one 4.54 which is in the link, download that and the logo file also, in the software section, download the v4.03_051005.exe which is the latest loader.
did what ya said. the green screen/ restart has stopped. thank you, sometime though the screen will get distorted and the bad/scrambled thing will come up but only for a second or so. is that normal???
Glad you got it sorted , yes that happens on occassions but you will get days where it wont happen at all lol
my box is now a bit screwed. i uploaded the 4.54 software from the link given and did everything you guys said. now the box is freezing every couple of seconds and getting bad/scrambled channel thing on and is updating everyday of some reason. i can't watch any of the channels properly because of this freezing thing.it is really annoying can anyone help please.
You will have to adjust the codes manually for now Starvi*w Codes : http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/528527 To input keys manually : press menu press 1570. (this takes you into secret menu) Press OK on "nagravision" Make sure your cable provider is listed at top N*L or T***WEST C&W CHO**S etc Go down to "Key Number" and check its on 00 Go down again to "Key Data" and input the correct keys Press OK to store Go back up "Key Number" and change to 01 using the > button on the remote control Go back down again to "Key Data" and input the correct keys Press OK to store Press "Exit" , Check the bottom option and make sure "Key EMU" is On Press Ok again Then "Exit and "Exit" again back to the main tv screen Then go to a paid channel and should update .
